Across a country road from the house and gardens sits the Barn. As a place dedicated for office and studio use, we wanted it to live in its own kind of environment.
From its dark exterior and wall of glass looking out to the hills beyond, to its modernist interior, the barn has a clean and contemporary feeling. Simplicity was going to be my objective for the landscape.
Taking the distant hills as inspiration, we formed a large curving berm of soil behind the barn, then, using Corton steel to retain, carved layers into the berm mirroring the layered hills
in the distance.
Art imitating life? Inspired by nature.
