The owners of this 1901 American Queen Anne style house wanted a garden befitting the grace and quiet elegance of their home. The design needed to be simple, yet bold enough to stand up to the massive size of the house.

Additionally, the ground just behind the house dropped off at a precipitous degree to the bottom of their property. The design solution was to create a series of arched turf berms echoing the curves of the house. Into these berms, stone steps were set to lead one down to the bottom, where a fantastic cast iron fountain I found became the focal point of the garden.
